A 61-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of arson after a house fire at Ashford.

Firefighters and the police were called to the property in Stowell Close, Singleton, at 9.30pm Friday.

Three fire pumps attended. One person needed treatment for smoke inhalation and it is thought a dog died.

A man was arrested and is being questioned by police.
