A pensioner has been mugged in the stairwell of flats in Bybrook Road, Kennington.

The 65-year-old was in the nearby shopping parade when a man began talking to him and walked with him towards the flats.

An offer to help him up the stairs was declined but the offender followed him inside, pushed him over and stole his wallet.

Police are appealing for witnesses who may have seen the incident between 11am and 11.15am on Monday.

The man they are seeking was white, aged 20-25, 5ft 8in, medium build, with short straight blond hair, and wearing blue jeans and a fawn coloured cardigan or fleece.
