Man admits fraud running into millions of pounds

He infiltrated a world where deals were done in millions of pounds.

Now a part-time delivery driver is facing sentence for committing multi-million pound fraud involving top racehorse trainers.

Michael Baker, of Pilgrims Way, Hollingbourne, admitted fraudulent trading between January 1 2005 and August 31 2006 by carrying on the business of Bakers Mayfair Ltd with intent to defraud creditors.

He also admitted obtaining services by deception from trainer Henry Cecil by the purchase and stabling of a racehorse by falsely representing he had funds to pay between January 1 and October 23 2005.

He further pleaded guilty to four charges of fraud by false representation to bloodstock agent Charles Gordon-Watson by instructing him to bid for and buy Silverskaya, Sweet Stream, Mora Bali and Angara from Tattersalls between December 3 last year and June 16 this year.

Baker, 28, asked for three other offences to be taken into consideration at Maidstone Crown Court on Wednesday.
