Man arrested after being cut free from overturned van

A VAN driver was arrested on suspicion of drink-driving after being rescued from his overturned vehicle following an accident on Saturday.

The 31-year-old man from Herne Bay was cut free from his Vauxhall Astra van by firefighters after being involved in collision with a Jaguar on Tankerton Road, Whitstable, at around 9.15pm.

The drivers of both vehicles were taken to hospital.

Police arrested the van driver on suspicion of drink-driving, aggravated vehicle taking and assault on ambulance staff.

He has been bailed until April 15.
