Man arrested after fatal 3-vehicle crash

A 20-YEAR-OLD man from Kent died from injuries he suffered when his car was involved in collision with two others in West Sussex.

The victim, who lived in Maidstone, was at the wheel of a Rover 216 which was driving west along the A27, Worthing, when it was in collision with a Mercedes Sprinter van being driven by a 20-year-old man from Hailsham.

A passenger from the Rover was taken to Worthing Hospital with serious injuries and has been transferred to a London hospital.

Also involved in the incident at 5am on Saturday was a Mercedes 300 driven by a 53-year-old man from Lewes who received slight injuries.

A man from Hailsham has been arrested and bailed in connection with the incident.

Officers are appealing for witnesses who may have seen a White Mercedes Sprinter van being driven between Chichester and Worthing between 4.20am and 5am on Saturday morning, to contact them on 0845 60 70 999, quoting Operation Acacia.
