Man arrested after house fire

A man has been arrested after a house fire in Minster this afternoon.

Police and firefighters were called to a property in Harps Avenue at about 12.35pm.

A Kent Police spokesman said officers were alerted to a small fire on the lower floor of a house.

The blaze was put out by 1.10pm and a woman who was in the property escaped unharmed.

A man in his 60s has been arrested on suspicion of arson. He was taken to hospital with breathing difficulties.

Police closed the road from its junction with New Road and Minster Road.

It reopened at 1.55pm.
