Man arrested after serious assault

A man was left bleeding on a pavement after a fight - just yards from a catholic church.

The 32-year-old was taken to hospital with face wounds after being found near St John the Evangelist Roman Catholic church.

Police on patrol in Gravesend town centre saw the fight in Queen Street, Gravesend close to its junction with King Street at about 6pm on Tuesday.

A 17-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of serious assault and is being questioned by police - while the injured man was taken to hospital.
