A man has been charged after a policeman was left unconscious in a road following a hit-and-run crash.

Stephen John Fahri is accused of causing GBH with intent to resist arrest, dangerous driving, theft, making off without payment and common assault.

The 30-year-old, of Janny's Close, Aylsham, in Norwich, is due before Sevenoaks magistrates this morning.

It comes after an incident in Tunbridge Wells on Friday, December 9 when the officer and a colleague approached a car in Springfield Road.

It then drove at him, with the officer ending up on the bonnet.

He was later found lying in the road, unconscious, about 300m from the incident. He was taken to hospital, but later released.

A 30-year-old woman arrested on suspicion of harbouring a wanted criminal has been bailed pending further inquiries until February 14.
