Man charged after Strood bookmakers robbery

A man has been remanded in custody after being charged with robbery and possession of an imitation firearm in connection with a raid at a Strood bookmakers.

The robbery happened in September at Coral, in Gun Lane. David Penn, 32, of Frindsbury Road, Strood, was arrested on Thursday and later charged.

He appeared before Sittingbourne Magistrates Court on Friday, and the case against him was adjourned.

Penn will next appear at Maidstone Crown Court, on Friday, November 5.

Another man, 44, from Rochester, who was also arrested in connection with the robbery, has been released on bail.
