A man has died after he was struck by a train.

The 56-year-old was hit by the 12.57 Ramsgate to Ashford train at Smeeth yesterday.

A British Transport Police (BTP) spokesman said: "The incident, which was reported to police at 2.03pm, is being treated as non-suspicious.

“BTP officers attended alongside paramedics from the local ambulance service."

The line was handed back to Network Rail at 3.35pm.
