Man dies after being struck by car

A pedestrian has died in hospital after being involved in a collision with a car.

The man is reported to have been struck by a silver Volkswagen Golf while crossing Woodlands Road, Gillingham, shortly after 10.30am on Tuesday.

He was taken to Gillingham's Medway Maritime Hospital where he died from his injuries.

The road was closed to allow Kent Police's serious collision investigation unit to carry out their work at the scene.
