The Medway Tunnel after the incident yesterday

A man has died after he fell from a bridge close to the Medway Tunnel.

Police were called to Purser Way on the westbound carriageway approaching the tunnel at around 7pm yesterday.

The man, thought to be in his 20s, has not yet been identified, but he is believed to be from London.

The death is not being treated as suspicious.

The Chatham tunnel was closed for around four hours while police investigated.
