A 61-year-old man has died in hospital following a fall from his bicycle.

Police say the man was cycling along Stalisfield Road at Charing, near Ashford, at about 10am on Tuesday when, for an unknown reason, he came off his bike and sustained serious head injuries.

He later died at the William Harvey Hospital at Ashford. He lived locally but has not yet been named.

Police do not believe that another vehicle was involved and the cause of the accident is being investigated.
