A man who died after being rescued from the sea at Broadstairs on Bank Holiday Monday has been identified.
Rabbi Chaim Breisch, 59, of Hackney, east London, was swimming with another man when both ran into difficulties
Police and the lifeboat were called to the shore near Westcliff Road at 11.40am whilst an RAF search helicopter was scrambled along with Kent Air Ambulance.
After a search located them, one man was winched to safety whilst the other was rescued from the water by lifeboat. Although flown to hospital Mr Breisch was pronounced dead on arrival.
The other man was also taken to hospital but released later after being treated for minor injuries.
An inquest into the 59-year old’s death has been opened and adjourned.
