Man dies as he is dragged into machinery

A LORRY driver from the Sittingbourne area was killed when he fell into a machine as he was cleaning out a cement mixer. The tragedy happened Hanson Aggregates in Trottiscliffe Road, Addington, near West Malling on Saturday morning.

The identity of the 29-year-old man has not yet been released and the Health and Safety Executive is carrying out an investigation into the incident. Peter Morgan from the executive said: "The man works for Hanson and it appears he was cleaning out pre-mixed mortar from the machine at the end of his working day. It seems he got caught up in the machinery and was dragged into it.

Firemen from Larkfield, Borough Green and Sevenoaks were at the scene for four hours in order to release his body.
