A MAN was evacuated from a house fire in Margate this morning. The blaze, in Railway Terrace, broke out shortly before 7.30am and the ground floor of the property was completely gutted by fire. The first floor was partially damaged by flames.

Firemen from Margate and Broadstairs wore breathing sets to tackle the fire. The man was treated at the scene for the effects of smoke inhalation.

An investigation into the cause of the fire is being carried out.
