A 21-year-old man has appeared in court accused of manslaughter following the death of another man in Chatham.

Nowbahar Bahar appeared before Medway magistrates on Saturday after police had charged him late on Friday night.

Bahar, of no fixed address, was arrested by police after the death of David Henkel.

Mr Henkel, 32, who lived in Chatham, was taken to hospital following an incident in Bank Street on Saturday, July 23, at about 10pm. He died of head injuries last Tuesday.

Bahar, who comes from Afghanistan, was remanded in custody and will appear before a judge at Maidstone Crown Court on Friday.
