A man from Kent has died while swimming in New Zealand.

Andrew Massey was swimming with family members at Ocean Beach in Tairua.

The 68-year-old got into trouble and was brought to shore.

New Zealand police said CPR was performed on him but he was unable to be resuscitated.

It is not yet known which part of Kent he is from.

His death will be referred to the coroner.
