Police were called to Dartford Civic Centre, in Home Gardens

A man has been taken to hospital after reports of an armed siege at Dartford Civic Centre today.

Kent Police were called to the building in Home Gardens just before noon after a man claimed to have a knife.

A police negotiator attended and a 55-year-old is currently undergoing a medical assessment in hospital.

The civic centre was temporarily closed, but not evacuated.

However, people inside the building were moved to a secure area while officers dealt with the incident.

The centre was reopened at 2.05pm.
