Man hit with baseball bat in golf club robbery

POLICE are appealing for witnesses after a man was struck with a baseball bat during a robbery at a Kent golf club.

The incident happened as the victim was carrying the takings from the course at Allhallows, near Rochester, after locking up the premises for the night.

He was in the car park walking towards the main road with two other men when a robber wearing a black balaclava and armed with the baseball bat confronted him.

The robber demanded money and when none was forthcoming he attacked the victim with the bat.

One of the victim's companions tried to help. He was attacked by a different man armed with a piece of wood.

The two attackers escaped with the takings, making off across the car park towards the Kingsmead Residential Mobile Home Park.

The victims raised the alarm at the security post of the Allhallows Caravan Park, and the police were called.

The victim of the attack was taken to Medway Maritime Hospital and received treatment for injuries to his face and legs.

The two attackers took steps to conceal their faces, but are described as being about 5ft 10in and 6ft 3in in height.

The robbery happpened at about midnight on Saturday, November 26. A police spokesman said: "This was a well-planned and determined assault by two men who came armed.

"If anyone was in the area at the time and saw or heard anything, they are asked to get in touch with the area crime unit in Rochester on 01634 884252.
