A 35-year-old man was due to appear in court on Wednesday morning charged with the murder of Ted Shaxted who died two weeks after being found with serious injuries in his home.
Trevor Lees, of London Road, Northfleet, was arrested and charged by police following a three-month investigation.
A neighbour found Mr Shaxted, 36, in his Wallis Park, Northfleet, home in December. He was put on life support but died in Darent Valley Hospital two weeks later.
Two men arrested in connection with the incident remain on police bail pending further inquiries.
