A Rainham man was arrested in the early hours of Thursday morning following reports of an assault.
Eyewitnesses said a police van and a number of officers were at the scene when the 32-year-old was pinned to the floor and arrested in Taswell Road, Rainham.
He is currently being held in police custody.
