Police were called to the scene close to the Morleys roundabout at 11.20pm Sunday, however a spokesman said the last sighting of the victim was at 8.30pm so the exact time of the crash is unclear.

The victim - a man in his 30s from south east London - was travelling alone in a silver BMW 320.

He was pronounced dead at the scene and no other vehicles were involved.

The London-bound stretch of the A21 was closed between Tonbridge and Morleys roundabout until 5.30am Monday.
