A foreign national fell to his death from cliffs during an Easter Sunday walk.

The Coastguard believes the man, believed to be in his 30s, strayed off the designated footpath on the cliffs at Capel-le-Ferne, near Folkestone, slipped on some wet grass and fell about 250 feet.

Police received a call from a friend of the victim at around 1.45pm.

Three Coastguard teams and the Kent Air Ambulance were also involved in the search.

He was found at the foot of the cliffs at the Warren - but a doctor from the air ambulance pronounced him dead at the scene.

Peter Legg, Dover Coastguard senior watch manager, said: "The man apparently slipped down the grassy area at the top of the cliffs and then disappeared. There is a shelf at the top and then a sheer drop."

He also warned people to stay on the marked paths and not go too close to the cliff edges.

Police are not treating the death as suspicious.
