A man has died in hospital after a head-on crash between two cars.
The man, believed to be in his 20s and from Tunbridge Wells, was with a friend travelling through Buxted, in East Sussex, on Friday when they collided with a second car.
Damage to their car was so great that they were trapped inside for about two hours, while firefighters worked to free them.
Doctors were able to identify serious chest, leg and pelvic injuries while the man was trapped in the car. After he was freed, he was flown to the Royal Sussex County Hospital, where he died on Sunday.
The three people in the second car all had minor injuries.
Dr Alan Pearce, who attended the scene, said "The intrusion of the bodywork into the passenger area made extrication and access very awkward but we were able to provide advanced medical care whilst the fire and rescue crews worked to free him during the unusually long entrapment."
