Man leaps from bushes to attack girl

A MAN attempted to snatch a teenage girl while she was walking through an alleyway with a group of friends.

The man grabbed the 14-year-old girl by her arm but she managed to pull herself away and ran off with her companions.

The incident happened in an alleyway in Kitchener Avenue, Chatham, between 8.45pm and 8.55pm on Sunday.

The group of teenage students, one girl and three boys, were walking along the alleyway when the man appeared from the bushes and grabbed the girl by the arm.

A spokesman for Medway Police said: "The girl pulled her arm away and she and her friends ran into Magpie Hall Road. The offender went off towards the Coney Banks.

The man is of slim build and was wearing dark trousers, a white jumper or jacket and a dark baseball cap.

The spokeman added: "We would appeal to anyone who may have seen the incident or anything suspicious in the Kitchener Avenue area that night to contact us."
