Man punched as thugs steal his cycle

A 35-year-old cyclist was punched in the face by three thugs who then stole his bike as he pushed it up a hill.

The cyclist was on Frindsbury Hill, Strood, at about 9.30am on Sunday, November 6, when the incident happened. One of the thugs punched him in the face.

The man managed to run to the other side of the road to call the police, it was then his attackers made off with his bike.

Detectives are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the assault and theft to contact them.

Det Con Scott Machin said: "The young man who assaulted the victim, and split his lip, is between 17-19 years old, of mixed race and wearing blue top and bottoms at the time. The cycle which was taken is a white and silver Salano mountain bike. Anyone who has been offered this bike is asked to contact Det Con Scott at Rochester area crime unit on 01634 884147."
