A 46-year-old man denied murdering a student when he appeared at Maidstone Crown Court on Friday.

Ian Deadman, of Canterbury Road, Margate, is alleged to have stabbed Tommy Balsam on September 8.

The 25-year-old father was found by a police officer called to a disturbance in Canterbury Road, Margate.

Deadman, who leant on a walking stick, was remanded in custody until his trial on May 5 next year.
