Man 'serious' in hospital after car hits tree

A man is seriously ill in hospital after a car he was travelling in hit a tree.

Police are appealing for witnesses following the serious collision on the A249 at Detling at around 6.50am Saturday.

The silver Peugeot 306 was travelling towards Maidstone when it struck a tree.

The driver, an 18-year-old man, was taken to hospital with suspected life-threatening injuries, but was said to be in a serious but stable condition on Monday.

Officers from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the incident to come forward.
