TWO men needed hospital treatment after being attacked by a gang of youths while on a night out in Thanet. One of them is in a serious condition in hospital.

A 21-year-old from Tenterden, near Ashford, and a 25-year-old man from Cranbrook were in a pub in Margate when they met three girls. The group made later their way towards the nightclubs on the seafront.

Near the Clock Tower in Marine Terrace, they passed a group of youths who began to insult the girls. When the men shouted at them, they were attacked by the youths.

The 21-year-old suffered a fractured skull, and has been transferred to King’s College Hospital in London. The 25-year-old suffered severe cuts to the back of his head and needed 21 stitches.

The assault was captured on CCTV cameras, and police would like to hear from any witnesses, particularly the three girls who were with the victims.

Two men from Sittingbourne, aged 20 and 23, have been arrested by police and bailed.

There were five or six youths in the gang, all white, with short hair and in their mid to late teens. They were all casually dressed and wearing bomber-style jackets. One of them was described as slim, with short dark hair. He was wearing a denim bomber jacket.
