A man is recovering in hospital after being stabbed in the neck with a bottle.
The man, who has not been named, was seriously hurt when he was attacked by another man in Glencoe Road, Chatham.
It is believed an argument broke out between the two men and a woman shortly after 7pm.
Concerned residents dialled 999 after the attack and police immediately cordored-off of the road and arrested a 32-year-old man and a 23-year-old woman on Wednesday evening.
Paramedics took the injured man to Medway hospital where he had emergency treatment to his wounds, but police say his injuries are no longer life threatening.
A police spokesman said: “The road was cordoned-off at 7.22pm and a man and a woman were arrested.
“Officers kept the road closed to enable a thorough investigation to be carried out.
“It was re-opened at about 1.30am after officers finished their investigations and heard the man’s injuries were no-longer life threatening.
“The 32-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of assault, and the 23-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of affray.
"Both have now been bailed until Friday, July 25 while investigations continue.”
One woman who lived nearby but didn’t want to be named, said: “We had heard the man had been stabbed with a bottle in the chest and neck and he had died.
“But I’m glad to hear he is alive.
“It’s not the sort of thing you want happening on your doorstep, is it?”
