A MAN has been arrested after an incident outside a pub that left one man with a fractured jaw.

A 28-year-old man was apprehended by police in Maidstone at the weekend.

The 25-year-old seriously injured man left the Bird in the Hand pub in Stockett Lane, Coxheath, near Maidstone, with his brother at about 1pm on Sunday morning when they were both involved in the incident. He has now been transferred to East Grinstead hospital in west Sussex for treatment.

PC Simon Powell who is investigating the case said: "One man suffered very serious facial injuries. He suffered broken bones and has swallowed some of his teeth."

The man's 23-year-old brother also suffered injuries to his head, but less severe. Both brothers, who live in Coxheath, were initially taken to Maidstone Hospital.

Officers cordoned off the pub car park early on Sunday to search for clues and forensic evidence.

PC Powell said: "I would urge anyone who witnessed the incident to come forward as soon as possible to help us with our inquiries."

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact police on 01622 604274 or Kent Crimestoppers 0800 555111.
