A MAN was last night rescued by firefighters after becoming trapped in a house where a pensioner died in a blaze earlier this month.
The man woke up in the burned-out house in Abbot’s Hill, Ramsgate, where historian Sid Lubin, 70, died on January 11. He found he could not get out and began screaming for help. Neighbours called the police and thefire brigade.
A Kent Fire Brigade spokesman said: “We think the man had had a few drinks. He doesn’t remember how he got into the house. He woke up and found himself inside a burned out building, which must have been a terrible shock.
"He could not get out, because the house is boarded up. His screams for help were also very distressing for neighbours, under the circumstances.”
A police spokeswoman said no charges would be made concerning the incident.
