A MAN was woken by a fire inside his house.

Crews from Horton Kirby, Swanley and Dartford fire stations were called to the semi-detached property in High Street, Farningham at around 5.30am this morning.

The blaze, which is believed to have started in the kitchen, spread to the first floor through a wooden beam causing some structural damage to the property.

The occupant of the house was unhurt in the incident and the cause of the fire is unknown.
