Gillingham will hope to have tied up on-loan West Ham striker Frank Nouble for a third month before this weekend.
Boss Andy Hessenthaler has been in talks with the 20-year-old, pictured, who has netted four goals in 10 appearances since moving to Priestfield in mid-September.
Hessenthaler is also keen on a permanent deal for Bristol Rovers loanee Jo Kuffour. Both have made a big impact in League 2 since joining the Gills.
Nouble’s deal – which expires after Saturday's game at Aldershot – can only be extended for one further month, to a maximum 93 days, and Hessenthaler was hopeful Gills could convince the young forward to stay.
Hessenthaler said: "I think Frank is keen (to stay) but we need to double check that. If we can keep him for another month, that would be nice."
A deal for Kuffour could be more complex and Hessenthaler has left chairman Paul Scally to deal with the situation.
The striker, who hit a hat-trick in his last Gillingham outing against Northampton, is on loan until the end of December but his form may have alerted teams elsewhere.
Hessenthaler added: "The chairmen are talking on that one. We want him and he has expressed his desire to stay, which is good."
