Gillingham manager Andy Hessenthaler insists his side are ready and waiting to pounce on any wobbles from the top three in League 2.
None of the clubs in the automatic promotion places won on Saturday and that allowed the Gills to close the gap after they smashed Bristol Rovers 4-1 at Priestfield.
"When you are in the top three you have to keep that run going," said Hessenthaler, pictured, whose side are unbeaten in their last five league games.
"You only have to slip up and there are a lot of teams behind trying to catch them.
"Results went okay for us on Tuesday and they weren’t bad on Saturday. We were 10 points from second before the match and we are only seven now so, if we get another win, all of a sudden it’s four.
"There is a lot of football to be played and nobody is getting carried away. If they (the top three) are, then hopefully we can shoot them down and capitalise on them slipping up."
