Gillingham boss Mark Stimson is refusing to panic after his side slipped back into League 1's bottom four on the back of Saturday's 1-0 defeat at Oldham.

The Gills have been there already this season and escaped and Stimson (pictured) is confident his side can do the same again.

He said: "It happened before and we got straight out of it. We need to do that again. What matters is that after 46 games we’re not in it.

"There will be a lot of twists and turns at both ends of the table. We just have to keep our focus."

Following Easter Monday's crunch home match against Southend, just six games remain of the season. The Gills are looking to hit the 50-point mark and need at least three wins from their remaining fixtures.

On the horizon are trips to high-flying Millwall and runaway leaders Norwich, while Leeds and big-spending Southampton are still to visit Priestfield.

Stimson is hoping his players will rise to the occasion.

"This season, for some unknown reason, against the big sides the boys have concentrated and focused more and got good results," said the Gills boss.
