MOTORISTS' lives are being put in peril by maniacs who have been placing orange twine across a road in the village of Eythorne, near Dover.

Police are stepping up their warnings to road users to beware of dangerous obstacles being put in the road that could cause a potentially fatal accident.

On two occasions this week orange twine has been fixed across the road, at about the height of a motorcycle, in Coldred Road just before the 30 miles an hour speed limit starts on the entry to Eythorne village.

This follows several reports of debris including an iron bar and bits of wood being placed there two weeks earlier.

Det Chief Insp Chris Hogben said: “If a motorcycle or bike rides into this obstacle, the consequences could be fatal. We would then launch a murder enquiry and the person responsible would be looking at a long prison sentence.

"We will not tolerate such reckless behaviour, and I would urge parents to ensure their children know the dangers and warn them we will prosecute those responsible.”
