A man has had his arm amputated after becoming trapped underneath a fallen load of marble slabs.
The 43-year-old from Lincolnshire was delivering one and a half tonnes of granite and marble to Whybrow Stonemasons on Bedlam Court Lane, Minster, shortly after 7am Thursday when the accident happened.
Kent Police said part of the load shed while it was being unloaded from a lorry, crushing the man's arm.
A Kent Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said three appliances were sent to the incident.
Crews using airbags and hydraulic rescue equipment released the trapped man after around an hour.
He was taken to the QEQM Hospital in Margate where he was undergoing surgery for "serious injuries" at 11.20am.
The road remains closed at the junction with Church Street but is expected to reopen at lunchtime.
The Health and Safety Executive has been informed of the incident and are visiting the scene.
