Bromley produced a stunning comeback from 2-0 down to win 3-2 at Margate on Saturday and progress to the FA Cup fourth qualifying round.
Gate flew out of the blocks at Hartsdown Park and Kwesi Appiah (pictured) opened the scoring after just 20 seconds, capitalising on a defensive slip to open the scoring with his eighth goal in three FA Cup games this season.
Appiah added his second of the afternoon - and 13th of the season - from a corner on 20 minutes as Gate's pace on the counter-attack proved too much for their Blue Square Bet South opponents.
The turning point arrived five minutes later when Appiah was forced off injured with Dean Grant coming on to replace him. However, Tom Bradbrook went close to a third on 35 minutes with a header from Matt Bodkin's sixth corner of the afternoon and Curtis Robinson and Dean Grant also went close before the half-time whistle sounded with Gate good value for their lead.
Despite bossing the first 20 minutes of the second half, Gate allowed their visitors back into the game and with 20 minutes remaining Warren McBean halved the deficit, beating keeper Simon Overland to a back-header and firing home.
Then less than a minute later and the scores were level through a McBean header from a Marlon Patterson cross after a fine run.
Gate looked like they had held on to earn a replay but a hotly-disputed penalty in the final minute after a foul by Marc Corneille on Aaron Rhule was converted by Danny Waldren put Bromley ahead.
Despite Bradbrook heading over from a Bodkin free-kick and the hosts sending keeper Overland up for a stoppage-time set-piece, they could not find a leveller.
The comeback earned Bromley £7,500 in prize-money and a place in the hat for Monday's draw.
