Maria gets to the church on time...on a trike

A GLEAMING Rolls Royce or a horse-drawn carriage are some of the more traditional ways for a bride to arrive at the church. But Maria Ferguson wanted to make her entrance just a little bit different when she married Chris Brackley

Rather than the more elegant forms of transport Maria chose her beloved motorised trike to get her to the church on time.

The 31-year-old surprised guests at St Matthew Church at Borstal, near Rochester, when she tore up to the ceremony on her red Suzuki 850cc trike. Her entrance made even more of an impression as she was surrounded by an escort of five bikes from motorcycle enthusiast club Patriot Mc.

Maria's father was given the job of riding the trike while the bride sat sedately on the back. She said: "He was very scared."

Maria, of Sir Evelyn Road, Rochester, who has been mad on bikes for 11 years, had made it her dream to arrive for her wedding on a bike.

She said: "My husband and I both ride bikes and it seemed the appropriate thing to do, rather than going by car."
