Gillingham midfielder Mark Bentley has agreed a new contract at Priestfield

Bentley played 36 times for the Gills last season but was not regularly used in his preferred right-midfield berth - often turning out at centre-back in the place of long-term absentee Simon King.

The former Southend man scored three times last season - his fourth campaign with the club following his switch from Roots Hall on a free-transfer.

The 32-year-old has been handed a one-year deal, but with a clause which will extend the contract for another year subject to the number of appearances he makes.
