Outspoken Gillingham striker Mark McCammon let his football do the talking on Wednesday afternoon.

McCammon scored four goals as Gillingham reserves beat Eastbourne Borough 5-1 at Priestfield.

"Mark has done himself no harm with those goals," said Stimson.

"To score four goals at any level is an achievement and it will do him the world of good.

"You never know, in the next few weeks we might need Mark. He certainly knows where the goal is from that performance.

"It was a good reserve team game. Certain players needed to get some minutes, Danny Jackman in centre-midfield got 90 minutes and that's great for his fitness levels."

Matt Smart gave Eastbourne the lead after an error by keeper Simon Royce but McCammon levelled within a minute.

McCammon then netted his second and set up Adam Miller, who scored the third.

McCammon completed a 12-minute hat-trick in the 37th minute after collecting Chris Palmer's pass.

The striker, who turned down a loan move to Carlisle last week, netted his fourth early in the second half before the pace of the game fizzled out with a couple of substitutions.

Gavin Grant, who played for Gills in the 2005/06 season, came on for the final half-hour.
