Mark McCammon is due to return to Gillingham on Friday but manager Mark Stimson has already instructed the player’s agents to try and find another club before Thursday’s transfer deadline.

The big striker has spent the last month at League 2 side Bradford City but they have decided against taking him for any longer.

McCammon (pictured) made two starts and two substitute appearances for Peter Taylor’s side and he could again be heading out on loan providing his representatives can beat the 5pm deadline to find a club.

Stimson said: "I have spoken to his people because Bradford have told me they won’t be retaining him.

"I spoke to them on Tuesday night and asked his agent if they could manufacture a deal.

"If Mark is interested in it then there is a possibility he might go out but nothing has happened yet."

Fellow striker Jacob Erskine, a summer signing from Bromley, could be heading out to spend the remainder of the season at Croydon Athletic. His loan spell at Bishop’s Stortford recently came to an end.

Midfielder Rashid Yussuff, meanwhile, also remains available for loan but so far no clubs have made an approach.
