Gillingham's poor discipline record is something that new manager Martin Allen is keen to address.

The Gills, under Andy Hessenthaler, had the third worst discipline record in League 2 last season , according to statistics compiled by the Football League.

They committed 515 fouls during their 46 league games, picked up 79 yellow cards, earned seven red cards and conceded seven penalties.

Only Bradford and Oxford had worse records.

Allen said: "You only have to look at the statistics and the amount of bookings and it has to improve.

"That's what we have already started to do. The work is being done on the training ground now to try and improve that."

Charlie Lee (pictured) collected 14 yellow cards - more than any other player in League 2 - and missed six games through suspension.

Joe Martin, meanwhile, collected three red cards - all after a second bookable offence. And Lewis Montrose committed more fouls than any other Gills player - 68 in total.
