Massive tailbacks after lorries collide

AN accident involving two lorries caused rush hour chaos on the A2 on Thursday morning.

The collision happened at 6.58am on the London-bound carriageway by the Tollgate turn-off, near Gravesend, and involved a HGV and a flat-bed lorry.

Traffic was backed up as far as the Medway bridge.

The driver of the flat bed lorry was cut out of his vehicle and taken to Darent Valley Hospital.

A police spokesman said it was believed his injuries were minor.

All three lanes of the A2 were closed and traffic was allowed past on the hard shoulder, causing massive tailbacks during the rush hour.
