McDonald's will reopen three Kent restaurants.
Last week the fast food giant announced it would be reopening 15 stores across the UK for delivery and it has now provided a further update.
McDonald’s at Sittingbourne Retail Park, Beechings Way in Gillingham and Gillingham Bowaters Roundabout will begin taking orders again next Wednesday (May 13) between 11am and 10pm.
Additionally branches at Chelmsford Riverside, Chelmsford Westway, Ipswich Cardinal Park, Boreham Interchange, Luton Leagrave, Watford, Luton Chaul End Lane, Tooting, Dalston, Welling, Harrow and Luton George Street will reopen as part of the first wave.
Chief Executive Paul Pomroy says the branches, which were shut in March following the government's implementation of lockdown, will be staffed by smaller teams.
He said: "We will increase how often these procedures are completed and provide all employees with updated training on restaurant cleanliness and sanitisation. All restaurants will be deep cleaned before reopening."
Perspex screens, floor markings, face masks, thermometer checks and social distancing with delivery drivers will be implemented.
There will also be a limited hours and menu – including many of its burgers, chicken nuggets, Fillet-o-Fish, fries and hot drinks range but no breakfast.
Uber Eats and Just Eat will deliver orders.
Mr Pomroy added: "When we return it will be different as we all adjust to this new normal. I want to apologise in advance if our first wave of reopened restaurants does not serve your area. Rest assured, we are working hard to reopen more restaurants, but I am adamant this must be at the right pace with the wellbeing of our employees, suppliers and customers front of mind. Thank you for your patience.
"Slowly, but safely we will return to towns and cities across the UK and Ireland and thank you for your continued support as we work through this crisis. We will continue to keep you updated via email, our website and our social media channels."
Greggs and Burger King have started reopening in Kent, while last week desperate KFC fans flocked to a drive-thru only to be told it was not open. The police were then called.
