A mum of five from Medway could be crowned Britain’s Best Mum.
Maureen Hodges, from Hoo, is one of four finalists in the GMTV competition after she was nominated by her 15 year-old son Aaron.
Viewers tuning in to the ITV1 breakfast show yesterday will have seen GMTV presenter Richard Arnold arriving at Maureen’s home along with her children, neighbours, friends and family to tell her she was through to the finals.
Maureen has five children, her two eldest daughters Danielle and Holly are adopted and have Downs Syndrome.
Five years ago Maureen’s husband suddenly passed away and she has devoted her life to raising her children.
She has always had a fear of water, but made sure her children were good swimmers - Maureen is now trying to overcome this by having swimming lessons so she can get into the water with them.
Aaron told viewers why he thought his mum should be crowned Britain’s Best Mum.
He said: "My mum is one of the best people that could have ever existed over any scientist over any philosopher.
"She puts us over herself and she believes that if she takes care of us really well we will grow up to be good and respectable people.
"I love you so much I can’t contain it."
Viewers were asked to vote for their favourite mum via the GMTV website earlier today.
The winner will be announced on GMTV on Monday morning.
