Stuart Kenny and Sky show
off their search and rescue skills

A group that helps find vulnerable missing people in the county
has recruited three more canine colleagues.

Kent Search and Rescue has added labrador Cleo, collie cross Red
and hovawart Sky to its ranks.

Their owners are all members of NSARDA CanTech, the Kent branch
of the National Search and Rescue Dog Association.

They have spent years training their pets to pass assessments to
make them fully-trained rescue dogs.

The unit, which is on call for the emergency services,
was called out 45 times last year - often to help locate the
elderly or young children.

Dog trainer Stuart Kenny, of Caesar Avenue, Kingsnorth, said the
group is always looking for more handlers.

Stuart, who is featured in the video above training
Sky, added: "At the moment we have five operational dogs, but
ideally we'd like at least 10 or 12. Some people aren't always
available as we're volunteers. The more we have, the easier it is
to make sure we've got dogs out there searching for missing
people."
