Meeting to discuss festival's future

THE flagship event of Bexley's cultural events calendar will be given a going over at a meeting tonight.

Bexley council will discuss ways to improve the organisation and running of Danson Festival next year, which has a budget of £71,000.

But the two-day festival which takes place in Danson Park, Welling, during the first week in July went over-budget by £11,000.

Car park reductions, sponsorship income and bad weather is being blamed for the overspending.

Also reported in the festival's summary is that there was a greater involvement of community groups and an increase in high profile attractions across the site.
